Medieval Europe has many castles. An extreme amount of devine and sophisticated castles were built for the rich or royal families of the country. People to this day still live in castles, while others are attractions, which are very popular.
Areas In A Medieval Castles
Location: Castles are usually built atop hills for a good view, being able to spot attackers and only people who were "worthy" were able to reach the castle. If not, the castle is either on some land or surrounded by water.
The Moat: Moats usually surround castles for protection. Many vicious things would be in the moat, such as traps and deadly animals. If one were to cross, a bridge would be pulled down. During and attack they would pull the drawbridge up.
The Keep: The Keep is one of the largest rooms in castles. They would store many items such as food, and many extras in case of a siege. A hall is what leads from the lord's home and connects it to the Keep.
Barracks: Barracks in or out of castles is where the castle knights and their families would live.
The Church: The Church was either built inside or outside the castle. Everyone living in the castle would go to the Church to study religious views, it is also a place where people would go to be declared as a knight.
